Roseanna Cunningham has stepped down from Holyrood. Cunningham said it was a 'difficult decision' to move away from the role, after claiming the title as the longest serving elected parliamentarian.
Serving both at the Scottish Government and Westminster, she said was a 'massive honour' but admit her age, 69, did play a factor in her move away from politics.
Ms Cunningham admitted this weighed heavily on her mind with the next Holyrood election taking place in 2021.It comes after SNP MPs Gail Ross and Bruce Crawford stepped down.Cunningham, MSP for Perthshire South & Kinross-shire, said: "It has been a massive honour to have represented my constituents in both Westminster and the Scottish Parliament for the past 25 years and to have been.
