Scotland has recorded the hottest day of the year so far again, as temperatures continue to soar over the Queen's Jubilee bank holiday weekend.

Much of Scotland has been baking in scorching hot climates over the last couple of days, with temperatures hitting well into the 20s in some places.

Sun-worshippers have been taking advantage of the warm and sunny spell, flocking to parks and beer gardens to make the most of the stunning weather. And for the second day in a row, the Met Office confirmed Scotland hit its hottest day yet in 2022 as Drumnadrochit in the Highlands reached an incredible 23.3C on Saturday June 4.Forecasters updated the temperature throughout the day as they initially thought it had peaked at 22.4C.The village ousted its Highland counterpart, Achnagart, which yesterday reached 20.6C.Only time will tell if anywhere will beat it tomorrow as forecasters say the mercury could stay just as warm as the second half of the four-day Platinum Jubilee weekend gets into full swing.Temperatures will be scorching - at least by Scottish standards - as the thermostat is set to peak at 21C in some areas on Sunday, particularly in northern and western parts of the country.Glasgow is set to hit highs of 17C but Edinburgh is forecast to be significantly cooler at 12C and with some cloud in places. It comes after 2021 was one of the hottest years on record in Scotland. The Met Office says it is 'quite unusual' for the highest temperature of August to occur in Scotland, but the scorching 27.2C weather at Tyndrum on August 25 set that record last year. The mercury inched even higher on September 8, 2021 when Charterhall in the Scottish Borders hit 28.6C.
