Rutherglen police issue fraud warning as cases rise in the area

Rutherglen police telling the Reformer there  has been an increase in local cases recently. He said: “Moving in to the festive period I would like to remind people of the dangers of online and telephone frauds.“This is a seriously impactful crime, particularly at this time of year, and locally we have received reports of people being contacted by phone or email asking them to provide their bank account details or transfer money.“Please do not provide your personal/banking details or transfer money to anyone who contacts you as this is not a practice that legitimate companies utilise.”The new six-week Police Scotland campaign, in partnership with Take Five to Stop Fraud, will also warn that criminals are becoming more sophisticated and.
