A keen runner tackled an epic challenge to raise money for Accord Hospice after they cared for his late father-in-law.Colin Harper took part in the mighty Spine Race, a 268-mile trail along the Pennine Way which starts in northern Derbyshire and ends just inside the Scottish border.After dropping out at 220 miles at his last attempt, this time he was determined to complete it and he finally crossed the finish line after 144 hours, 38 minutes and 17 seconds.
In other words, he started at 8am on Sunday morning and finished at 8.40am the following Saturday.Colin explained: “It’s a non-stop race.
That doesn’t mean you can’t stop but the clock never stops. There are checkpoints where you can rest, eat and use the toilet but it’s a maximum of six hours at each stop.
