Perth and Kinross punters will be able to have a drink while standing at the bar following a Scottish Government u-turn this week.

Local pub and bar owners have welcomed the confirmation following confusion brought by the emergence of conflicting information on Wednesday.The region will move beyond level zero on August 9, so-called ‘Freedom Day’, where many of the coronavirus lockdown restrictions active since March 2020 will be removed.During Tuesday’s COVID briefing First Minster Nicola Sturgeon also confirmed nightclubs, live music venues and theatres can finally reopen along with the allowance of larger crowds at events, but that face coverings will be mandated in law “for some time to come”.
