Police probe ‘devastating’ Glasgow church blaze as building left ‘unsafe’ after early morning fire

Glasgow church was severely damaged following an early morning blaze. We told earlier how officers have so far been unable to gain access to St Simon’s Catholic Church in Partick after flames left the structure unsafe.

The cause of the fire remains unknown however investigators are keen to speak to anyone who was in the Partick Bridge Street area in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

They are also keen to obtain dash cam footage from passing motorists between 2.30am and 3am on July 28.Emergency services remain at the scene after the alarm was first raised at 2.50am when the inferno took hold of the historic building.A number of nearby homes have also been evacuated while no injuries have been reported.
