Bystanders were left with their hearts in their throats as they watched a huge passenger plane make an incredibly low landing - coming in just a few metres above their heads.

Tourists had gathered to watch the Airbus A321neo as it made its descent into the Greek island of Skiathos, the Mirror report s.

A video captured at the scene shows the jet approaching the popular holiday destination as boats bob on the calm waters of Mediterranean just below.

However, as the Wizz Air plane gets closer, it becomes clear that the pilot plans to touchdown just moments after clearing the perimeter fence of Skiathos Alexandros Papadiamantis Airport.
