Parkrun return delayed as organisers announce new date to resume 5k events

Don't miss a thing by getting the day's biggest stories sent direct to your inbox The organisers of parkrun have announced today that it has been "forced to delay the planned reopening of 5k events in England" next month.

The events had been scheduled to return on Saturday June 5 - and the 13 weekly events across Greater Manchester include a hugely popular run at Heaton Park.

Although more than 250 events do have landowner permission to return, it said this "falls far short of the critical mass needed to prevent overwhelming those that have been give the go ahead".
