Terrence Ryan, 77, began abusing a young boy in the early 1960s. He would go on to abuse three other victims until the late 2000s, ChronicleLive reports.

Ryan, of Woolston, Warrington, was then reported after a brave victim came forward to Northumbria Police and an investigation was launched by the force's Safeguarding unit.

Detective Sergeant Andrea Burns led the investigation which also identified three other victims. Ryan was arrested and initially denied the allegations put before him.
