Pension Credit do not have to pay the licence fee, however, the charity Turn2Us has released new data showing that more than 589,000 eligible pensioners across the UK are missing out on the scheme, simply because they haven’t made a claim.

The findings show that along with a free TV licence, thousands of retired people are missing out on hundreds of pounds each month through Pension Credit.

It is estimated that only 61 per cent of those eligible actually claim their entitlement to Pension Credit. As of March 2019, there were 4.6 million free TV licences in the UK, accounting for 17.6 per cent of all TV licences, reports Express.co.uk.
