In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, the 48-year-old boxing legend opened up about the traumatic incident for the first time, claiming it happened when he was 13 years old during a tournament in Hawaii with a woman who was “over 35.” He shared: De La Hoya — who has faced multiple accusations of sexual assault by several women over the years, too — said he would use fighting as a temporary distraction and never took the time to deal with the childhood trauma: The mixed martial artist also found comfort in drugs and alcohol — something most fans know he has struggled with a lot for years.
