The £600m transformation of North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH) in Crumpsall has been described as a ‘once in a generation’ opportunity for the city.

Meanwhile a separate masterplan concerning the redevelopment of Wythenshawe Hospital was also supported by councillors on Wednesday.

Once built, the hospitals will boast housing for key worker staff and some patients, as well as ‘world class’ scientific research and training facilities and public open spaces.
