A Hamilton cannabis grower avoided prison this week after claiming he cultivated the drug for his sick mum.Twenty five plants worth up to £15,000 were seized when police raided the property in Brankholm Brae.Mark Barclay, 38, admitted producing cannabis at his home in March 2018.Neil Thomson, prosecuting, told Hamilton Sheriff Court officers arrived at the house armed with a search warrant.He said: “Once inside they were aware of a pungent smell of cannabis.“The cultivation was found in the loftspace.
The plants were described as being at the mid to late stage of growth.“Police experts estimate the value at between £200 and £600 per plant, meaning in total they were potentially worth up to £15,000.”Barclay’s solicitor, Jackson Bateman,
