Nicola Sturgeon has surprised an inspiring woman on her birthday after finding out how she grew up in care. Jeanette Miller, known as Jinty, was thrilled to receive a personal message from the First Minister as she turned 23 today.
The student and fundraising volunteer at Who Cares? Scotland had gone into care aged eight as her parents suffered from serious mental health issues, making her determined to help those facing similar challenges.
After losing her dad at only 12 the young foster care advocate became even more passionate about pushing for change, especially for care experienced young people.She then met Nicola Sturgeon in 2018 as an 'Advocate for Who cares Scotland' to discuss the care system and was impressed by how the SNP leader.
