New McDonalds set for Toryglen after planning permission granted

McDonalds has been given the go ahead to open a new drive-thru restaurant and children’s play area on the car park of a Toryglen supermarket – despite fears from locals.

Glasgow City Council has given the green light to the fast food chain’s application for a two-storey restaurant at  the Asda on Prospecthill Road.

However, concerns about the development have previously been raised by residents who are worried about the impact it will have on children’s health and the amount of extra traffic it will generate.A planning report states: “The proposal is  to erect a restaurant with drive- thru facility which would form a ‘McDonalds corporate style’ restaurant to the easternmost portion of the Asda car park."The drive-thru restaurant would have
