NASA is on track to send the first ever woman to land on the moon in 2024. The space agency has reassured that its Artemis mission is set to go ahead in four years time in a bid to explore more of the lunar surface than ever before.
It will mark the only time that a woman has ever stepped foot on the moon - 52 years after an astronaut first landed. Of the 12 people who have walked on the moon, starting with Neil Armstrong, none have been female.
While on the moon, the astronauts will collect samples and conduct a range of science experiments over the course of nearly seven days, The Mirror reports.
They’ll then return to lunar orbit before heading back to Earth aboard Orion.Jim Bridenstine, NASA Administrator, said the mission to the moon.
