An internet forum dedicated to parents and issues surrounding kids have called for ‘Christmas Jumper Day’ to be axed in schools.

Mumsnet, the online community, believe the annual money raising event in schools heaps too much pressure on families who can’t afford it.

Parents on the website have taken issue with the gimmick and said that some families with more than one child face having to buy multiple new jumpers year after year.

One mum who began the discussion about the event, which takes place today Friday December 10, said one of her child’s classmates doesn’t have a lot of money.
