Morrisons has issued an apology to its customers following a lack of meat and lettuce found on store shelves at the weekend. The British supermarket chain said that a disruption in their supply chain led to "low availability" on their stock levels this Saturday.

One of the supermarket giant's UK branches had to issue customer information notices in-store to explain to customers why some of their lettuce, meat and poultry aisles were reduced.

The notices read: "Due to disruptions within our supply chain, we are seeing low availability on lettuce."Apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding." A disgruntled customer affected by the shortages told Hull Live : "You'd expect the big supermarkets to have this sort of stuff in stock.

It's worrying that they can't even get the basics like salad and chicken in. "It's not the end of the world but when you're turning to frozen and tinned items instead it really says something about where we're going.
