MARK Wright says he deliberately acted like a "playboy" with a string of girlfriends on Towie to boost the show's ratings. The star, 35, insists he knew what was needed to 'make the reality series popular' so hammed up the drama.
Mark said he purposefully caused rows with his now-ex girlfriends, including Lauren Goodger, just so viewers would continue to tune in.
And when he began getting abuse on social media, Mark asked Towie to bring in his beloved Nanny Pat and bashful pal James 'Arg' Argent - just so he could be "normalised".
Speaking on the No Boundaries Podcast with Aaron Mclean, Mark said of his Towie days: "I played a character on the show that was... "It's real life but also you dramatise your real life moments and I knew what this show needed to be popular - it needed drama.
