Michael Carrick will remain in charge for Manchester United's Premier League game against Arsenal on Thursday as the club await a work permit for Ralf Rangnick.
The caretaker manager will oversee his third game in charge with new interim boss Rangnick not in the dugout, despite his appointment being confirmed by the club on Monday.
United are working on securing a visa for Rangnick and he can't officially begin work at Old Trafford until that is approved.
The race against time means Carrick will still be in charge for the visit of Arsenal. United's final training session before that fixture will take place on Wednesday and Rangnick would have needed to oversee that at Carrington to oversee that if he was going to take charge on
