Man dies after falling into a canal - police don't believe his death is suspicious

A man has died after falling into a canal. Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to a section of the Bridgewater Canal near Brooklands Metrolink station in Sale on Thursday morning.

A path leading down to the path from Marsland Road and a section of the canal towpath was cordoned off. Police have launched an investigation into the incident but do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances. A file of evidence is expected to be passed to the coroner for south Manchester.
