Man abused by manager of children's home in the 1980s loses compensation bid against Manchester council

Don't miss a thing by getting the day's biggest stories sent direct to your inbox A man who was sexually abused by a manager of a private children’s home when a teenager in the care of Manchester council has lost a High Court bid to claim damages from the local authority.

The council had responsibility for the man when he was a teenager and was sent to Bryn Alyn Hall near Wrexham in the 1980s. It was there that the claimant was abused by John Allen, the chief executive of the Bryn Alyn Community (BAC) which ran several children’s homes in Wales and England.

Allen is currently serving a life sentence for child sex abuse and has been convicted of multiple historic sexual offences against young boys.
