Lorraine Kelly urges Eurovision bosses to consider V&A Dundee to host song contest

TV star Lorraine Kelly thinks V&A Dundee would be the perfect venue to host the Eurovision Song Contest. The presenter suggested the venue as two of Scotland's largest cities confirm their bids to host the mega event.

A spokesperson for Glasgow City Council said the city is a "safe pair of hands" after hosting COP26 last November, while Aberdeen City Council has also thrown its hat in the ring.

It comes as the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the BBC confirmed the annual competition would be hosted in the UK. While Ukraine won the contest in May, the EBU said the event "regrettably" could not be held in the country, following the Russian invasion earlier this year.And this week, Lorraine took to Twitter saying the V&A should be considered.Commenting on a fantastic photo of the design museum, she wrote “Glorious and a venue for @Eurovision?”It is not clear whether Dundee City Council is planning to enter a bid for the contest.It is understood the hosting city needs a venue that can hold more than 10,000 people to be considered, something that Dundee does not yet have.Glasgow and Aberdeen both have suitable venues and are preparing their bids.A Glasgow City Council spokesperson said: “Since it became a possibility that the UK might host on behalf of Ukraine we've been working hard on our bid.DundeeLive brings you the latest headlines from Dundee and beyond.But did you know you all the ways you can stay informed with us?You can get our top stories sent straight to your inbox with our daily news updates.
