Lockdown measures will be imposed for Scotland’s poultry following a rise in cases of bird flu in the UK. From Monday, November 29, bird keepers will be legally required to keep all birds indoors and follow strict biosecurity measures.
Bird keepers are also being urged to continue carrying out regular cleaning and disinfecting of equipment, clothing and vehicles when entering and exiting sites.It comes after several cases of bird flu were identified across the UK - including some in Scotland.
Earlier this month, the Scottish Government announced that avian influenza, or H5N1, was found on a farm in Scotland. All remaining birds at the farm were culled while authorities put up a restriction zone in order to limit the risk of the disease.It
