Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has appeared to criticise John Stones' selection for England ahead of his centre-back Joe Gomez.
Stones is yet to play for Manchester City this season, in part due to injury and also down to the good form of Aymeric Laporte and Ruben Dias.
His only four appearances so far in 2021/22 have come for England, with two outings in the most recent international break over the last two weeks.
A key part of Gareth Southgate's side, Stones' availability was all the more important given the absence of Harry Maguire last week, with Tyrone Mings, Conor Coady and Fikayo Tomori selected as the other available centre-backs.
