Bids will start at £750,000 despite the Ashley Hotels group buying it for £900,000 just last year.A spokesperson for Ashley Hotels previously said the firm was working “in earnest” to secure planning permission for the Grade II listed building to turn it into a boutique hotel, but that ambition has since fallen through.The firm withdrew a planning application to Trafford Council earlier this year to convert the building into a 121 bedroom hotel via a five-storey side extension.Before Ashley Hotels bought it last year, the building was once used as a refuge for homeless people and later became a squat house.
