As a musician who has played to huge crowds around the world, Kodaline’s Steve Garrigan might not be someone you’d expect to struggle with anxiety.

But despite looking like a picture of confidence on stage, the frontman has been going to therapy and dealing with panic attacks for years.

Now the singer has opened up in his book High Hopes which, as well as charting his band’s success, includes fun anecdotes from Steve’s childhood and a very candid look at his mental health.

Speaking with EVOKE, Steve explained how although having anxiety hasn’t always been easy it has been a major force behind his music and he couldn’t imagine how life would have turned out without it.
