Knife-wielding robber who twice raided shop in Tameside is jailed

direct to your inboxA robber who threatened a shopworker with a knife has been jailed for 10 years. Michael Lee Gilworth 33, left staff "frightened and distressed" following two raids at a convenience store in Tameside.

They both occurred at the McColls store on Astley Street in Dukinfield where police said Gilworth had "persistently targeted staff." The first incident happened on September 5 this year, when Gilworth jumped over the counter and stole numerous bottles of spirits before making off.

Then the following day, he returned and produced a knife which he used to threaten a female member of who was working alone Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.
