Kathy Griffin reveals lung cancer diagnosis as she prepares for surgery

Comedian Kathy Griffin has revealed to fans that she has lung cancer.The 60-year-old took to Twitter and Instagram to share her diagnosis with fans, telling them she is due to have surgery to have part of one of her lung removed.

She hopes she "should be up and running around as usual in a month or less" and has reassured fans that she will be "just fine." She revealed that the cancer is at stage one, which means it is small and has not yet spread anywhere else.

Lung cancer is one of the most common and serious types of cancer, according to the NHS, with around 47,000 people diagnosed with the condition every year in the UK.
