Kanye West dubbed Piers Morgan a “Karen” in an interview that came days after the rapper posted an anti-semitic tweet and just weeks following his 'White Lives Matter' controversy.
The 45 year old slammed the TalkTV host as he appeared on his show Uncensored as part of a two-hour interview special. In a clip from the chat Kanye can be seen branding Piers, 57, a “Karen” as he's questioned about his heavily condemned tweet, which read: "I'm a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I'm going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.” When asked by Piers if he was sorry for his post, Kanye at first states that he has “no regrets”, before appearing to apologise.
Kanye then storms out of the interview, before returning and laying into Piers. Kanye fumes: "You're being a Karen; you don't hold accountability to the pain.” A ‘Karen’ refers to a person of self-entitlement who weaponises their privileged position and uses micro-aggressions to cause harm onto others.
Piers replies: “I'm not a Karen and I'm not going to cancel you and I'm not going to censor you, I'm simply going to challenge you on what you're saying.” Kanye then responds: "You can't cancel me!" Piers goes on to speak about the “pain caused” by Kanye’s tweet, to which he replies: “God forbid one comment could cause people to feel any of the pain that my people have went through for years. "Even the Blacks being ushered to the left during the civil rights movement, no one has cared about black people!" Kanye’s explosive interview comes after he made the atrocious claim that George Floyd was killed by a fentanyl overdose, going against the medical examiner’s evidence.
