John Christopher Depp II (born June 9, 1963) is an American actor, singer, producer, and musician. He has been nominated for ten Golden Globe Awards, winning one for Best Actor for his performance of the title role in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2008), and has been nominated for three Academy Awards for Best Actor, among other accolades. He is regarded as one of the world's biggest film stars. Depp made his film debut in the 1984 film A Nightmare on Elm Street, before rising to prominence as a teen idol on the television series 21 Jump Street (1987–1990). He had a supporting role in Oliver Stone's 1986 war film Platoon and played the title character in the 1990 romantic fantasy Edward Scissorhands.

Make-A-Film Foundation Wednesday after the actor made a $200,000 contribution to the organization that grants critically and terminally ill kids the opportunity to make short films and documentaries with actors.The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star is “one of the most generous people we’ve ever worked with,” a representative for the organization told TMZ.

According to the news outlet, much of the money will go toward production costs for films with price tags of $25,000 to $35,000 and documentaries that range from $3,000 to $5,000.Depp’s sizable donation comes after he received a $1 million settlement from his ex-wife Amber Heard, 37, after their highly publicized defamation trial last year.

Make-A-Film Foundation is not the only charity benefitting from Depp’s courtroom victory. The “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” star will also give an equal amount of money to The Painted Turtle, Red Feather, Tetiaroa Society and the Amazonia Fund Alliance, according to news reports.The Post reached out to Depp for comment. “Mr.

Depp’s generosity is overwhelming and we are honored to be among these amazing organizations that he supports,” said Tetiaroa Society’s Executive Director Frank Murphy. “His contribution will help Tetiaroa Society in its work to protect Tetiaroa, support indigenous voices across the Pacific, and advance ocean-based solutions to climate change.”Joe Seidenberg, the executive director of Red Feather, also praised Depp, saying that the actor’s donation will “help to address housing disparities for Native Americans.”Both Depp and Heard have slowly returned to the spotlight after their courtroom showdown.
