'It's unfair to say Prince William should be King - Charles earned his time in the top job'

Despite enjoying a hugely successful first year of his reign, a recent poll has suggested that a staggering 41 per cent of people believe the Prince of Wales should have taken over as King, rather than King Charles, when the late Queen passed away last year.

While this is not only surprising given the enormous spike in popularity the King has seen in the past 12-months, it is largely unfair given his 73-year wait for his position and his steadfast devotion to a lifetime of service.

Disregarding the results, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond strongly feels that the King deserves his chance to do everything he has spent his whole life planning to achieve, and even admits she feels Diana, Princess of Wales would reassess the criticism she once afforded her former husband.

As someone who knew the late Princess of Wales well, Jennie explained to OK! that she feels Diana would review her claim that King Charles was not suited to the "top job" following a successful first year as monarch.
