Instagram has apologised after a number of people were unable to access the service this evening. Thousands of people reported outages on the social media platform on the website DownDetector.
The peak of the complaints was made shortly after 6pm on Thursday. Figures from the website show that the most reported problems included issues with the app itself, the feed and the website.
One person wrote on DownDetector: “Is Instagram down? I can’t see new posts, only about four come up and that’s it.”Another said: “Instagram refreshing but only showing a small number of posts and all are ‘old’ posts.”Meta, the company that owns Instagram, said that it is working to resolve the issues “as quickly as possible”.A spokesperson said: “We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing Instagram.“We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and we apologise for any inconvenience.” Don't miss the latest news from around Scotland and beyond - Sign up to our daily newsletter here.
