Kate Middleton is no stranger to following protocol and sticking to tradition after marrying into the Royal Family. However, the mum of three, 40, has a few traditions of her own that she’s put in place for her children Prince George, eight, Princess Charlotte, seven, and four year old Prince Louis. To celebrate the young royals’ birthdays, Kate previously told Mary Berry that she has started a tradition that involves baking them each a homemade cake for their birthday.
She starts this prep as soon as the children go to bed on the eve of their big day and goes into the Cambridge family’s kitchen to get baking.
Speaking to Mary Berry in 2019, during a special festive show called A Berry Royal Christmas, the Duchess revealed how she does it. “It's become a bit of a tradition that I stay up 'til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much.
But I love it.” In recent weeks, she’s has plenty of practice with baking and has done it twice for Princess Charlotte’s birthday on 2 May and shortly before Prince Louis’ on 23 April. The Duchess has a break until Prince George turns nine on 22 July.
