An inquest into the death of a teenager in a mental health unit will examine if there were any ‘missed opportunities’ in her care and treatment.
Grace Victoria Heald, 19, of Blackley, died in the Rivington Unit at at Royal Bolton Hospital on August 22 last year. A police investigation found there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.
On Tuesday a pre-inquest review at Bolton coroners court heard that Grace was an aspiring artist who had a part-time job in Next in the Trafford Centre and was doing an apprenticeship in digital marketing. Outlining the 'scope' of the inquest, Timothy Brennand, senior coroner for Manchester West, said it would consider three main areas: the care and treatment Grace received from Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust from January 2020 to her to death; the care and treatment she received while a patient at the Rivington Unit and the impact her autism and ADHD had on the treatment and risk assessments she received.
