Rishi Sunak has announced a new Job Support Scheme to replace furlough in November.Addressing MPs in the Commons on Thursday, the Chancellor outlined new measures to support businesses and workers who are struggling financially due to the coronavirus pandemic.“The government will directly support the wages of people in work, giving businesses who face depressed demand the option of keeping employees in a job on shorter hours rather than making them redundant," Mr Sunak said.But how will it exactly work?

And how does the new scheme differ from furlough?Furlough was introduced in March but ends on October 31.The scheme saw the government pay up to 80 per cent of more than nine million workers' wages during the height of the pandemic - capped.
