A woman who was rushed to Salford Royal in an ambulance for sepsis said her life was saved by call handlers on a covid-19 pandemic helpline.Nicola Barker, a 53 year old from Higher Brougton, said she was reluctant to seek medical attention when she began to feel unwell last month because she was worried she’d contract coronavirus if she went to hospital.But she said that she was encouraged to do so by two call handlers from Salford’s Stay In Touch scheme - a phone call service set up in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic to help isolated individuals.Nicola, who lives alone in a bungalow in Higher Broughton, said she's incredibly gratfeul to the pair.“If I hadn’t had got in that ambulance, there’s a chance I wouldn’t be here now.
