Covid, according to a new study. Experts at the University of Nicosia say that they have found a correlation between the pollen concentration and virus infection rates.
They suggest that virus particles can become attached to pollen before being blown off in the air, reports Dublin Live. People have been urged not to gather near trees and plants, which are both very active during the pollination season over the summer.
The pollen count is expected to rise over the weekend in Scotland, with much of the country on high alert according to the Met Office.
One of the report's authors, Professor Drikakis, explained: “To our knowledge, this is the first time we show through modelling and simulation how airborne pollen micro-grains are transported.
