Tony Grogan served as a military policeman for 24 years and was involved in conflicts across the world, from the Balkans to the Middle East, before swapping his life for a new career.
The 48-year-old, from Oswaldtwistle, now teaches history at Turton School, in Bolton, after completing an Open University degree in history while he was still serving abroad.
