A fraudster has avoided jail after selling a stolen car over Autotrader to an unwitting man for over £12,000. Mahmood Ali, 30, advertised the stolen Ford Cougar on the car-selling website just a month after being sentenced for a similar offence.

After meeting the buyer in Manchester and having a test drive, he asked for a £140 deposit to be paid in cash, Manchester Crown Court heard.
