Fire service called to eight wheelie bins on fire after resident throws away disposable BBQ while it's still hot

Eight bins were destroyed by a blaze after a disposable barbecue was tossed away while still hot. Firefighters rushed to Arley Avenue in Bury at around 9pm last night to reports of a bin fire.

When they arrived, they found that a row of eight wheelie bins ablaze in the residential street. Firefighters discovered that the fire had been caused by a disposable barbecue, thrown in one of the bins before it had time to cool down.

Bury Fire Station watch manager Steve Urmston said: "We attended a fire at a property in Arley Avenue. "The fire had caught onto eight wheelie bins - caused by a disposable barbecue that had been left in one of the bins. "There was nothing left of the bins. "The fire also damaged the guttering and roof of a property."
