FIFA have reportedly suspended Russia from all of their football competitions until further notice as the Ukraine crisis rages on.

World football's governing body have been under pressure to follow UEFA and take action as Russian troops continue to invade their neighbouring nation.

UEFA have cut all ties with Russian football until the crisis is resolved and various FIFA nations - including the Czech Republic, Poland and Sweden who are in their World Cup playoff section - have refused to play them.

That included Scotland with the SFA refusing to associate with them at any level “should the current circumstances continue." Scottish football has also pledged its support to Ukraine, with crisis talks set to take place with potential opponents Austria and Wales ahead of next month's playoff.Over the weekend FIFA announced sanctions against Russia that banned them from using their flag or name in their competitions. But they stopped short of booting them out altogether, meaning they would have had a bye straight to Qatar 2022 if their qualifying opponents refused to face them. Now however it's being widely reported that FIFA have bowed to the pressure and are set to ban Russian teams from their international competitions. It means they will not be able to participate in any further World Cup qualifiers, the World Cup itself, or the women's Euro 2022 all due to take place this year.An official announcement is expected later on Monday.
