Entire school year group sent home amid suspected Omicron case

An entire primary school year group has been told to stay home because of one suspected case of the new Omicron variant. Both Year 4 classes at Lime Tree Primary Academy in Sale, Trafford, have been told to learn remotely until December 18, the day after they break up for the Christmas holidays.

A letter to parents says: "We have been notified of a suspected case of the new Covid variant called Omicron within the school community. "We realise this news will concern you but we want to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to prevent further transmission and are working closely with out local public health team and health protection experts."
