Ellen Pompeo backed Katherine Heigl's claims that the "Grey's Anatomy" workday hours were "cruel and mean." Pompeo agreed about the "insane hours" during a recent appearance on the "Tell Me" podcast. "I remember Heigl said something on a talk show about the insane hours we were working, and she was 100% right," Pompeo said Wednesday.  "And had she said that today, she'd be a complete hero.

But she's ahead of her time, made a statement about our crazy hours and, of course, [it was like] let's slam a woman and call her ungrateful." "She was f------ ballsy for saying it.

She was telling the truth. She wasn't lying!" Heigl made the comments about the show hours in 2009 during an appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman."  The actress was filming the sixth season of the medical drama.
