Dutch FA ignore Ajax and PSV calls as they set date for Eredivisie to return

The KNVB have rejected calls from clubs such as Ajax to scrap their league as it stands and have set a date to restart the season.

Ajax, along with AZ Alkmaar and PSV Eindhoven, wanted Holland to follow the lead of Belgium and end proceedings now due to the coronavirus crisis.

But after clubs and stakeholders met, the Dutch FA have decided they will start the season again on June 19 behind closed doors.The KNVB hope that clubs will return to training in mid-May should the government give permission for the restart — even though the country has been hit hard by the pandemic, with more than 2,000 deaths.
