A convicted drug dealer was found guilty of hiding nearly £30,000 of heroin and cannabis in his own children's backpacks. Simon Rogers, from Formby, was driving a stolen Aud i with his two young sons carrying the illegal drugs in the back seat.

The father of two was pulled over by police and officers discovered the drugs along with tens of thousands of pounds of cash.

Liverpool Crown Court heard on Wednesday that the owner of the stolen vehicle woke at 6am on June 10 to discover that her Audi Q2 was missing from her home at Gateshead.

At around 4pm on July 12, the vehicle was relocated by Merseyside police, with a cloned license number in the Kirkby, Aintree and Maghull areas, the Liverpool Echo reports.
