Manchester city council has been accused of using the coronavirus lockdown to approve controversial housing schemes 'behind closed doors'.
The planning committee is usually made up of thirteen councillors who vote on whether to give applications the go-ahead following advice from officials.
This month's meeting was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak. The government has relaxed legal requirements on local authorities to hold public meetings in person, and Manchester council agreed to delegate a number of powers to the chief executive Joanne Roney.
This includes planning applications and a number of schemes are set to be considered by Ms Roney, alongside committee chair Cllr Basil Curley and deputy chair Cllr Nasrin Ali, on the advice
