A total of 159 Ayrshire and Arran residents have died as a result of contracting coronavirus. The figures released today by the National Records of Scotland (NRS) take into account COVID-19 deaths up to Sunday, April 26.The news means that 39 patients in the region have died in a week.In East Ayrshire 41 have died as a result of contracting COVID-19.
In North Ayrshire 55 have died and in South Ayrshire 63 have passed away.In South Ayrshire, more people have died in care homes (49 per cent) compared to hospitals (43 per cent).In East Ayrshire hospital deaths accounted for 56 per cent of COVID-19 fatalities.
