Coronavirus deaths rise by 148 in UK in past 24 hours

The death toll now stands at 44,798 - up from 44,650 the previous day.Today's figures are up on last Saturday's daily deaths increase which was 67 and that of June 27 which saw a rise of 100.A further 820 people have tested positive for the virus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 288,953.The number of cases is up compared to last Saturday's 624.More than 11.7m tests have now been carried out in the UK with 243,078 taking place yesterday.The patients were aged between 40 and 98 and three patients, aged 65 to 86 years, had no known underlying health conditions.A further 38 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in hospital in England,.
