Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy's 'Wagatha Christie' trial begins today

The 'Wagatha Christie' libel trial between Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy will begin today at London's High Court.Back in October 2019, Wayne Rooney's wife publicly accused Jamie Vardy's wife of leaking 'false stories' to the press about her private life.Coleen apparently carried out a month-long 'sting operation' where she used her Instagram Stories to post fake scenarios and watched to see which ones were printed in tabloids.

Mrs Vardy absolutely denies the allegations and sued Mrs Rooney for damages for libel over the 'untrue and unjustified defamatory attack'.In an Instagram post in 2019, Mrs Rooney accused Mrs Vardy of leaking stories about her to the press.

According to The Mirror, she had posted a story about travelling to Mexico to find out about gender selection, making a return to TV, and the basement flooding at her new house - which had all been shared with The Sun.She had altered the privacy settings on her Instagram so that only Vardy's account could see the stories.Shortly after Rooney's accusation, Vardy responded on Instagram and vehemently denied any involvement.The upcoming trials comes as it was reported that Rooney, 35, is trying "hard to stay positive" despite being on crutches.The mum-of-four was recently pictured on crutches with her foot in a brace, for reasons which remain a mystery, but which have left her "gutted", New magazine reported at the end of March.Addressing the injury, a source told New magazine: "She's gutted by it.
